I don’t know what other people’s thoughts are, but I don’t care for posts of just the raw ingredients for a dish. If you’re going to have that, at least include the finished product as well.

As long as you have a big enough crock pot you don’t need to cut it. And you can brown it in the crock pot (as long as you aren’t using much additional liquid) by rubbing the outside with a very small amount of baking soda, and slow cook as usual.
