SAMBAL Prawns Recipe

Hi everyone today we will see how to make SAMBAL prawns recipe an amazing side dish… Exclusively for seafood lovers. Prawns take a special place when we talk about seafood. Most of us like to eat fried prawns and prawn salad. This side dish would be amazing when served with hot rice or spicy noodles and also with pasta.

Okay now will check the things needed to make this SAMBAL prawns


500g large fresh prawns

3 tablespoon oil

1 stalk lemongrass

3 Bay leaves

1/4 teaspoon pepper powder

3/4 cup thick coconut milk

1/2 teaspoon salt


3-4 chilies (deseeded)

4 shallots

4 garlic cloves

10 peanuts

3 tablespoon brown sugar

1/3 cup water

Frying the prawns

Now let us see how to make this SAMBAL prawns. First of all, take the prawns and trim the legs with kitchen scissors, then wash the prawns and drain it. Leave the shells on and keep it aside.

Peel the shallots and garlic

In order to make the spice paste, grind the deseeded chilies, shallots garlic and peanuts in a grinder together with brown sugar. Add water and blend it to make a smooth paste.

Then take a nonstick pan, add oil and heat it and fry the spice paste until a nice smell comes and the oil separates.

Then add washed and drained prawns into the spice paste and also add lemongrass, ginger Bay leaves and ground black pepper, thick coconut milk and finally add salt to taste.

Stir fry over medium heat, flip the prawns then and there in order to get either side cooked evenly. Make sure the prawns are cooked through and the sauce thickens.

Cook for about 15-20 minutes and then the SAMBAL prawns are ready. Transfer it to a serving dish, garnish it. Serve hot with rice
