Beef recipe needed please

Beef recipe needed please

Last weekend I did a pot roast recipe which came out so disappointing I almost felt like throwing it out. I browned the meat, 8 hours… all the meat that wasn’t in the broth just tasted bland.

This weekend I tried again but used diced chuck instead thinking this would be better. Wow, even worse.

For those who are curious, this is what I was doing.

I’ve mastered my favourite chicken dish but struggling to get a good red meat recipe!

What’s you’re favourite red meat recipe?

  1. I’m not a fan of putting herbs into the broth while cooking. I feel they just kind of melt away being in the hot water for a long time.

I make a mixture of cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and mix it with a splash of olive oil then I rub that all over the surface of the roast. I pour the stock all around it not letting the herbs go in the stock, they sit just out of the top.

    (1 x TBLS oregano, 2 x tsp cumin, 1 x tsp cayenne, 1 x tsp salt, 1 x tsp pepper, 1 x TBLS olive oil)

After your 8 hours you can pull it apart and the herbs mix through all the pulled apart meat and retain their flavour.

You can use this rub mix on pork shoulder and do it the same way, except with pork I use the juice of 3 oranges instead of stock. Probably my favorite slow cooker meal.

  2. Mississippi pot roast. Brown the chuck roast and put in slow cooker. Add 1 packed ranch dressing mix, one packet au just mix, 1 stick butter, 8 or so pepperoncinis and some juice from the bottle. Cook on low 8 hours. Serve with mashed potatoes and some green vegetable.

  3. Mom taught me this one & it never fails:
Buy a roast with the word “chuck” in the name.
Put it in the crock pot.
In a bowl, mix together 1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup with 1 envelope of Lipton Onion soup mix.
    Pour that over the beef.
Cook on Low for 8 hours.
Share! Enjoy! (Makes great gravy, so be sure to have mashed potatoes or noodles with it.)

  4. That recipe uses way too much salt, if you used potatoes all the flavour will be sucked into them early, causing the meat to be bland. I’d try the same again with only as much salt as you use to preseason the meat
